Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect on the first visit?

Our sports massage therapist will get to know you and do a quick check of your clinical history in order to get a better understanding of your needs from massage therapy. You will have to sign a consent form in order for our sports massage therapist to carry out treatment for you. From there, your massage therapist will build a trusting relationship with you which will help them to provide you with more efficient treatment. Your massage therapist will carry out a 15 minute postural analysis, followed by a 45 minute massage treatment.

What should I wear?

It is preferable that you wear sports clothing in order for your massage therapist to easily access areas that require treatment. You may be asked to remove clothing in some instances to allow for direct contact to the skin. However, if you would feel more comfortable keeping clothing on during your session (for example, wearing a bra whilst treatment is applied to your back), your massage therapist will facilitate this. We provide towels during treatment so you are always decently covered if our massage therapists are working on different parts of your body.

How many visits are required in my treatment plan?

Every client and treatment procedure is different. One session is all that is required, however your sports massage therapist may suggest a number of additional sessions in order to achieve longer lasting recovery.

How long is each session?

Each session lasts 60 minutes. Depending on the recovery rate of your body, your sports massage therapist may come to the conclusion that it is better to end the session early. In this case, remaining time will be allocated to treat a different part of your body.

Do you provide treatment on the first visit?

In most cases, yes. In rare instances, your sports massage therapist may come to the conclusion that you need to be referred to a different specialist. In these situations, the cost of treatment will be waivered.

Do I need an X-ray?

No. If you have a pre-existing injury, you can mention this to your sports massage therapist. During the assessment process, they will conclude whether or not they are able to continue treatment or have to refer you to a different specialist.
